Rappport fra arrangementskomiteen

It was the twentieth edition of Baltic Cup Regatta which started in 1994.

The Organizing Committee representing by Alla Khloponina and Victor Polyanichko the new staff of the Russian Rowing Federation did an excellent Baltic Cup Regatta 28.09 – 29.09. 2013 at Saint Petersburg Russia.

199 oarsmen and oarswomen between 15 and 17 year of age took part in the regatta, 12 athletes more than last year in Hamburg. There were rowers from all 11 countries (Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Byelorussia, Poland  and Russia).

It was the first time when young athletes from Byelorussia took part in Baltic Cup regatta.

There are included  5 classes of boats for junior women and 5 classes of boats for junior men (4-, 1x, 2- , 4x , 2x).

The distance for races was 1000 m on Saturday, and 500 m on Sunday. The distance 1000 m in the first day, was imposed by the conditions of rowing course (4 lanes and 1000 m length). Only such rowing course was available in Saint Petersburg.  The crews were starting during two days from the fixed starting installations.  The course and the installations functioned well.

During two days of races weather conditions were acceptable,  no rain, middle intensity head wind. Temperature was around 7-8 º C.

Rowers, coaches, team managers, did all stay in the same Hotel Park Krestovkiy located 500 m from the rowing course.

Breakfasts, lunches and dinners were served at hotel.

The quality of meals were good. No complains from the athletes.

After each race the first three crews were honoured at the Victory Stage, and all the rowers from these crews got medals. During the closing ceremony, the trophies were delivered to the three first  Federations which had the highest score in the 1000 m races and the 500 m races.

As an entertainment program, on Saturday afternoon the trip on boat through Neva river for all participants was organized by Organizing Committee.

Each crew participating in a race got points depending of which rank they got in their race. The  scoring received from Empire Commission for the two days races were following:

1.Germany          181 points

2.Russia            165 points

3.Poland            143 points

4.Denmark        137 points
